Firefly Announced for November Blu-ray Release

20th Century Fox Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the complete sci-fi series 'Firefly' to Blu-ray on November 11th. The 14 episodes will be spread across three BD-50s utilizing 1.78:1 1080p video accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. The set will also feature exclusive material over the previous DVD release.

Anchor Bay Blu-ray Boxsets Revealed

Anchor Bay Entertainment In an early announcement to retailers, Anchor Bay Home Entertainment has revealed that they will bundle their Masters of Horror series into the 'Blu-ray Masters of Horror Bundle' on September 9th. Additionally, they will release the Amazon-exclusive 'Blu-ray Zombie Bundle' (which will feature 'Dawn of the Dead', 'Day of the Dead', and 'Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn') on the same day.

300 Gets Limited Collector's Treatment

Warner Bros. Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring '300: Limited Collector's Edition' to Blu-ray on November 18th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Originally scheduled for 2009, the three disc release will feature all the extras from the previous two-disc DVD release plus a new documentary "To The Hot Gates: A Legend Retold" as well as a digital copy of the film.

Full Extras Revealed for Austin Powers Set

New Line Cinema New Line Home Cinema in conjunction with Warner Home Video have revealed the full list of extras for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Austin Powers Collection: Shagadelic Edition', due to hit store shelves on December 2nd. At this time, no technical specs have been announced for this release.

Two Versions of Caspian Blu-ray

Walt Disney Pictures Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has revealed that they will offer two versions of the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian', which is due on store shelves December 2nd, day-and-date with the DVD release. The standard version will be a two-disc release featuring 2.4:1 1080p AVC video accompanied by a 7.1 24-bit PCM soundtrack. The second version will be a three-disc release featuring a digital copy of the film.

The Polar Express Gets 3D Treatment for Blu-ray

Warner Bros. Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring 'The Polar Express Presented in 3-D' to Blu-ray on October 28th, day-and-date with the DVD release. The release, which includes four sets of 3D glasses, will also include the 2D version of the film and all the extras from the previous Blu-ray release.

The Love Guru Announced for Blu-ray

Paramount Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the Michael Myers' comedy 'The Love Guru' to Blu-ray on September 16th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Video will be presented in 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. A digital copy of the film will be available on the second disc.

Extras for Cirque du Soleil: Corteo Announced

Sony Pictures Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the special features for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Cirque du Soleil: Corteo', due to hit store shelves on September 23rd. Technical specs have yet to be announced. Extras for this release include four featurettes ("A Day in the Life of Corteo Artists", "Filming of Corteo", "Teatro Intimo", and "Through the Curtain") and a photo gallery.

Specs Revealed for Zombie Strippers

AC/DC: No Bull Coming to Blu-ray

Sony BMG Sony Music has announced that they are bringing the newly edited concert film 'AC/DC: No Bull (Director's Cut)' to Blu-ray on September 16th, day-and-date with the DVD release. No technical specs have been announced at this time, but the title will feature 20 tracks from a 1996 concert filmed in the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, Madrid, Spain.

Release Dates & Specs for First Wave of Criterion Blu-ray Discs

Criterion The Criterion Collection has posted details for their first five Blu-ray Disc titles. 'The Third Man' and 'The Man Who Fell to Earth' are set for release on November 18th, while three more titles - 'Bottle Rocket,' 'Chungking Express,' and the critically acclaimed 'The Last Emperor' - arrive one week later on the 25th. The films will be presented in their original (or director approved) aspect ratios in new high definition digital transfers, featuring lossless audio mixes. Each title will also contain a wealth of extra features.

Pineapple Express to Receive BD-Live Features

Sony Pictures Though the film has just been release in US theaters, planning is already underway to add BD-Live features to the Blu-ray release of 'Pineapple Express'. In an interview with Home Media Magazine, star Seth Rogan commented on some features that might be part of the eventual high definition release.

The Incredible Hulk Gets BD-Live Features; Still No Date

Universal Studios Universal Studios Home Entertainment has revealed some of the special features that will accompany the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'The Incredible Hulk', though no street date has been set as of yet. The film will come in a collectible 3D packaging and feature BD-Live features including "My Chat" which will allow you to chat with friends while watching the film.

WALL-E Gets Blu-ray Date

Walt Disney Pictures Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the Pixar animated film 'WALL-E' to Blu-ray on November 18th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Little is know about this release except that it will be a two-disc set with BD-Live interactivity and a digital copy of the film via, what Disney is calling, "Disney File".

Austin Powers Set Coming to Blu-ray

Warner Bros. New Line Home Entertainment in conjunction with Warner Home Video have announced that they will release 'Austin Powers Collection: Shagadelic Edition, Loaded with Extra Mojo' for Blu-ray on December 2nd. The set will include all three Austin Powers films ('International Man of Mystery', 'The Spy Who Shagged Me', and 'Goldmember') in stunning high definition.

Microsoft Adds Blu-ray Support to Windows

Blu-ray Disc Microsoft is planning to release "Windows Feature Pack for Storage" which will add support for master style optical burning on Blu-ray discs. The pack has been in non-disclosure laced beta testing for quiet some time, but can now be seen on the Microsoft Connect website. When released, the pack will upgrade Windows XP and Vista, as well as Server 2003 and 2008.

Blu-ray Release for Prince Caspian Revealed

Walt Disney Pictures Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has revealed that they will bring the second film in the Narnia series 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' to Blu-ray on December 2nd, day-and-date with the DVD release. Technical specs have yet to be announced at this time, but a top-quality video and audio presentation is pretty much guaranteed.

Monster's Ball Announced for Blu-ray

Lionsgate Films Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the Billy Bob Thornton and Halle Berry film 'Monster's Ball' to Blu-ray on November 4th. No technical specs have been announced at this time, but expect the typical AVC high definition video and DTS-HD Master Audio treatment from the studio.

Indies Moving Towards Blu-ray

Blu-ray Movies In the recent issue of Home Theater Magazine, it was noted that Blu-ray support from independent studios is up from the same time last year. While some studios are feeling the pain of transition, others are thriving. More importantly, the article reveals some upcoming Blu-ray titles from the studios which have yet to be formally announced.

Neil Young Archive Gets November Release Date

Blu-ray Movies According to UK music website Uncut, the upcoming Blu-ray release of the Neil Young album 'Archives Volume One 1963-1972' will hit store shelves on November 3rd. No additional information was revealed about the 10-disc set, but we should hear more soon. For those who don't recall, the set will feature high quality audio and video from the legendary artist's early career.
